As part of the 3-day Science Nation Tour of DOST for Caraga Region, the Science and Technology Forum was held last May 27, 2015 at Samping Avenue Convention Hall. The event was attended by several members of the Regional Development Council such as RDC Chairperson and Governor of Surigao del Norte, Hon. Sol F. Matugas, RDC Vice Chairperson, Regional Direcor, NEDA Caraga, Dir. Mylah Faye Aurora B. Carino, DOST Caraga Regional Dir. Dominga D. Mallonga, together with the different DOST funded projects in Caraga, DOST scholars, local media and with the honorary keynote speaker, DOST Sec. Mario G. Montejo.
During the S&T forum, CSU Phil-LiDAR 1 Project Leader and CEIT Faculty member – Engr. Meriam M. Santillan presented the background of the project, the Year 1 outputs, Year 2 progress report, with the emphasis on the application developed by the project called Web-based Near Real Time Flood Event Visualization and Damage Estimations or Flood EViDEns.
The Project team also had an exhibit showcasing the project and its outputs, as well as the Flood EViDEns application. The project exhibit was fervently visited by DOST scholars and other participants of the S&T Forum. Furthermore, the project drew attention when TV Patrol Caraga interviewed Senior Science Research Specialist Engr. Arthur M. Amora about the project which was aired on the 29th of May, 2015.
